Celebrating 10 Wonderful Years of Dropshare: A Journey of Simplicity and Sharing
It feels like just yesterday, but on August 20th, 2013, a humble "initial commit" was pushed to a Git repository, setting in motion the creation of something that would change the way people share files. Little did I know that this small file sharing utility, born out of a personal need to simplify uploading files to a web server via SCP, would evolve into what we now know as Dropshare. The name, derived from the concept of effortlessly "dropping" files onto an icon to seamlessly "share" them, was the perfect embodiment of its purpose.
As we approach the 10-year mark since that monumental initial commit – or more poetically, 1283 commits ago – it's with immense pride and gratitude that we celebrate Dropshare's 10th anniversary. This milestone allows us to reflect on the incredible journey of growth, innovation, and community that has shaped Dropshare into the ultimate file sharing utility for both macOS and iOS users.
